The Edmonton United Services Institute (EUSI) is preparing for its second 2026 Defence and Security Symposium, set for the 14th of November 2026. Previous donations from generous supporters provided funding toward the 2025 Symposium and the Spring 2026 Symposium. The focus on this year’s was on Firearms: For the Military? For the Home? Or for a Museum? There was debate on private firearms ownership and it was an excellent segway towards discussing a case to develop a military museum in Edmonton to match The Military Museums in Calgary. It was one of the highest attendance conferences we have seen in years. The Fall 2026 Symposium topic will be Canadian Military Procurement and the Impact for Edmonton. While we are still finalizing details, we are in discussions with potential speakers for the event which will include the representation from the Commander of the Canadian Army, the Division Commander, and the Canadian Support Group (West) Commander. We are speaking with representatives of the City of Edmonton, and the newly developed Edmonton Region Defence Alliance.

This will be an excellent opportunity to help educate Edmontonians and businesses on how changes in the Canadian Army will benefit the region. The schedule will include a continental breakfast and lunch. The event is open to the public, veterans, and invited guests. The 2026 Fall Symposium is expected to attract significant attention from both the local community and the military, including serving members and veterans. With over one million people in the Greater Edmonton Area, many are not fully aware of the challenges faced by Canada’s defense community.

The EUSI recognizes any donations made toward the symposium and other projects through our newsletter and website. As a registered charity with the CRA (Registration Number: 87790-2981-RR0001), we issue tax receipts for all donations. The EUSI is also registered under the Alberta Societies Act and is developing a program for fundraising through the AGLC. Contributions are acknowledged during the symposium(s) in the program and on the big screen, and any requested logos or wording from your organization is used as directed.
